“It’s about preserving some of the historical buildings we have, which is a different approach. A lot of the construction companies tear down what’s in the way and build up from there. The restoration and historic preservation approach is to protect everything you need to maintain the original work.” -YCG, Project Manager

What’s the difference between restoration and renovation?

Restoration is the process of restoring an old home or building back to its former glory, preserving the original brick or wood where possible. It’s rebuilding something old or worn with the intent of “restoring” it. A renovation, or remodel, is in many ways the opposite. To renovate a home means to replace, update—in with the new, out with the old!

For example, it’s common for people to restore the exterior of a home while completely renovating the interior. That way, they get the charm of a victorian style home with an open, roomy kitchen fit to hold as sorts of appliances that wouldn’t have existed in the 19th century.

Whether you want a bathroom or kitchen remodel (popular choices, by the way), full home renovation, or authentic home restoration using original Montana materials, we are the home improvement contractors you’ve been looking for to bring your vision to life.
